Eating Disorder Coaching

Working with an Eating Disorder Coach

How I can help as an Eating Disorder Recovery Coach:

  •  Support you in the "here and now" through meals, shopping trips, and other outings
  •  Help you deal with disordered thoughts and behaviors during a challenging situation
  •  Help you strengthen your healthy self so that you are better equipped to fight back against your eating disorder self
  •  Refer you to a dietitian, licensed clinician or physician if you are seeking a diagnosis or treatment for a physical or mental health issue

What is outside of the scope of my practice:

  • Deal with “why” you have developed an eating disorder
  • Give you a diagnosis
  • Treating your eating disorder
  • Give you a specific meal plan
  • Give you an exercise plan
  • Represent myself as anything other than a coach

What does it mean to be RECOVERED?

“Being recovered is when the person can accept his or her natural body size and shape and no longer has a self- destructive or unnatural relationship with food or exercise. When you are recovered, food and weight take a proper perspective in your life and what you weigh is not more important than who you are, in fact, actual numbers are of little or no importance at all. When recovered, you will not compromise your health or betray your soul to look a certain way, wear a certain size or reach a certain number on a scale. When you are recovered, you do not use eating disorder behaviors to deal with, distract from, or cope with other problems.” -Carolyn Costin
